Alongside a portfolio of teaching and performance I also run two music education projects.
piano TRACKS is a programme of pedagogical tools and resources designed to help piano teachers formally but flexibly assess student learning and support progress. The material is built around a bespoke curriculum which separates learning into stages. On our website, teachers can find suggestions to help teach specific concepts. Alongside this we also provide checklists aligned to curriculum so that teachers can easily assess progress (particularly where students are not following a traditional exam route). The original materials created by the piano TRACKS team are available to download for free (although we do accept financial contributions through Patreon and PayPal).
#PianoTeachersHour is a weekly discussion session on Twitter for piano teachers, which attracts a range of instrumental teachers. We meet on Wednesdays at 12:30pm (UK, term-times), to discuss a range of topics relating to the business of piano teachers. After most discussions a blog of the discussion is available on the website. You can follow us on Twitter at @PianoTeachershr.
